2012 Season Results
Thanks to a lot of work from an amazing group of volunteers, managers and coaches, over 100 Mosman teams took the field this season, many sporting “Suzy’s socks”. Overall, football is the winner, with over 1,100 players departing the field with smiles on their faces each week. We lost a few rounds to wet weather unfortunately, but most teams managed to play most of their games.
By the end of the season, 7 Mosman senior teams claimed the championships of their divisions and 20 senior teams qualified for the semi-finals, including all women’s teams. The AL3s lost 21 points due to a problem with registration and their coach, which serves as a warning to the whole club to take the details seriously. The AL6s also lost 2 points, but managed to win the championship anyway. The finals were tough, with only 3 of the 11 finalists winning, and 2 of these securing a win on penalties.
For the women’s finals, the WALs had a 4-0 win, while the W35/2s were unlucky to go down 3-2, and the W18/1s clawed back a 3-0 deficit to draw 3-3, only to lose to an extra time golden goal.
The juniors didn’t fare quite so well, with no champions, 3 runners up and only the 12/4s securing a finals spot. The U11/3s were the highest scoring team over the season with 51 goals.
No teams achieved 100% records or remained undefeated over the season and the W35/2 were the top scorers with 81 goals in 14 games. Many other teams have netted more than 60 times.
