Goalkeeper Training

In order to support and develop our budding and experienced goalkeepers alike, we’ve increased the resources we will dedicate to training for this specialist and critical role.

Every Monday evening at Balmoral Oval, we will be running goalkeeper training.

Players can only attend one session each week.

We encourage you to take advantage of these free training sessions and please bring along your own ball.

Here’s some background on our goalkeeping coach…

Dominique Garnier has played professional football in France for 3 years as a goalkeeper and many years as a semi-professional.  He’s an accredited coach through the Federation Francaise de Football and has an Australian Junior Football Licence.  Dominique has coached semi-professional teams and, for the last 10 years or so, has specialised in coaching goalkeepers at different levels and of different ages.  He has coached Steve Mandanda, who is currently goalkeeper for Olympique de Marseille and France and Berangére Sapowicz former goalkeeper for PSG and France in FIFA 2011 Women’s World Cup.

More locally, Dominique has been working as a coach for the Sydney Soccer Football Academy, SCECGS Redlands, Kambala and Sydney Uni. Of particular interest to us is that he has coached Lizzie Durack, who herself has coached with our club and who has represented NSW U16, Australia U17, for Australia in the University team, as a professional for the WS Wanderers in W league, is now playing for Boston Harvard and for England Under 20 and most recently has achieved her first cap for the English team.
