Registration for 2010 Season
2010 Registration Update
Thanks to everyone who has registered to date, and also for some excellent work by the Registrars and Competition Secretary, Maria Jones. With a bit of last minute scrambling we managed to register nearly all the teams we wanted - that will be 110 in 2010, which is a new club record. Our player numbers should be around 1,300, but there are still around 80 senior players who need to register: These players have now missed the deadline to receive their cards for the first game, and should register as soon as possible to avoid missing more games. We'll provide managers with team lists of registered players so they can work out who is missing and chase them.
Players should not be training until they have registered, as they won't be covered by insurance.
Any late registrations should be submitted via team managers directly to Maria Jones, not sent to the mailbox as it will now be cleared weekly, not daily.
Please note that digital photos (for U10 and W11 and older Juniors and all seniors) must also be received to complete registration.
More details on individual registration requirements, the forms and payment are available here.
Junior Mixed and Ladies Skills Assessment
Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out with junior skills assessment. We managed to collect objective metrics on nearly 300 players, and also had independent coaches review them in game play. While we are comfortable the process was fair to everyone, we understand that some players will be disappointed and parents may not agree with our assessment. Please note that in most cases a request for a place in a higher team will mean a player in this team would have to drop out, which we are loathe to do for obvious reasons, or the squad would be bigger reducing the game time for all. If you would like to discuss player placement, please remember:
- It is probably better for development to be a stronger player in a Div 2 side than a weaker player in a Div 1 side
- Team composition is at the discretion of Mosman FC, with responsibility delegated to the VPs
- The club is run by volunteers
Photos for Cards
In 2010, the MWFA is introducing new cards, which will use a digital photo. This photo should :
- Be roughly square
- Have no hats, no glasses or sunglasses
- Have a light background
- Be compressed to 30kb or less (Microsoft Picture Manager compressed to "web pages" will do this)
- Have a file name : "MFC 2010 'team' ' name' .jpg" (eg MFC 2010 035/4 Jim Beam.jpg)
Ideally, team managers should coordinate photos for each team, but if not, returning players can email photos to pachi.jones@gmail.com. Hopefully, this is another step towards a fully on-line 21st century registration system, but will place an additional load on the club volunteers this year so please be considerate.
