Mosman FC MiniRoos and Youth Girls Only Football FAQ
What is the difference between MiniRoos and Youth?
MiniRoos includes age groups U6 – U11.
Youth includes age groups U12 – U18.
What is the difference between Mixed/Boys and Girls Only?
The mixed competition is open to boys and girls from U6, with games held on Saturday mornings.
The girls-only program starts at U8, with games held on Sunday mornings.
Girls can continue in the Mixed/Boys competition as long as they like and indeed have the option to register in both the Mixed and Girls-only competition if they are particularly enthusiastic.
From what age can I play Girls-Only football?
The girls-only competition starts at U8 and runs through until U18.
How do I register?
Online registration opens on Thursday, 1 February, visit our website.
If you are intending to apply your Active Kids voucher to your 2018 Mosman FC Football registration, then please apply for the $100 voucher prior to registering. For more information, visit the Active Kids website.
When does the competition start and how long does it run?
The 2018 competition starts the weekend after Easter, i.e. 6-8th April and will run through until mid to late August.
When is game day?
The girls only competition matches are held on Sunday mornings with kick-off times ranging from 8:30 – 11:30am.
When is training?
The girls team generally train on a Wednesday afternoon on Allan Border Oval but some of the younger teams train on a Monday at Balmoral.
Final training times will be confirmed when the number of teams, coach and ground availability is finalised.
What is the MiniRoos Girls-Only Kick-Off program?
The MiniRoos Girls-only Kick-Off program is a 6 week pre-season skills program for girls aged 5-9. It is designed to give the girls an introduction to basic skills training in a fun, non-competitive environment. It suits total beginners through to girls who have had some experience playing.
This year, the program is being run by our new Coach and Player Development Manager James Webb, assisted by female coaches. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER
Does my daughter need to attend the MiniRoos Grading Day at Georges Heights on 18 February?
No, this grading day is for the mixed/boys teams in the Saturday competition only.
The 2018 girls academy teams were graded in November 2017 and the balance of girls will be allocated to a team on registering with no need for further grading.
What kit do I need and how do I purchase?
All players U6 – U11 will need a Mosman FC playing shirt, short and socks. There is no change from last year so if these items are already owned there is no need to purchase a new one.
As the MWFA now requires Youth players i.e. U12 and older to play in a numbered shirt, the club will be supplying new shirts to these players. Youth players will however still need the club shorts and socks.
Playing kit is available from our online shop.
Can my daughter play with friends?
All requests to play in teams with friends will be accommodated where logistically possible. Generally, this is not a problem and so if you have any special requests please send me an email on registering and I will take your request into consideration when forming the teams.
Can I form my own team?
Yes – if you have a list of girls wanting to play together please send through to me so I can allocate registered players accordingly. If you have a list of players but still require some additional players to complete the team just let me know and I will allocate girls accordingly.
Do I need a team to register or can a team be found for me?
You can certainly register as an individual and the club will allocate you to a team.
Where do I find general Mosman FC information and program updates?
All the above information can be found on our website and Facebook page.
Please note we are currently working on a new website design which will ensure all information is more easily accessible. In the interim, please continue to access the existing website as the information will be updated here.
