Manager Responsibilities

 

AT THE START OF THE SEASON

  • Organise the contact list. The team lists will be emailed to you as an excel spreadsheet.  Email the spreadsheet to all team members and ask them to check their contact details and make sure that they let you know if their contact details change during the season.  Distribute the completed list to all parents.
  • Prepare the roster.
  • If your team does not have a coach, you need to liaise with your VP to find one.
  • Liaise with your VP and the coach to discuss timing and location of training.
  • Identify a parent in your team who can referee for your home games (only for under 10s and under 11s ).
  • Collect training kit (training balls, bibs, cones) and match day kit (match ball, referee’s whistle, first aid kit, goalie gloves) – your VP will let you know when they are ready.
  • Get all parents who are involved with kids to complete the Working with Children requirements.
  • For U12 and up – Print a number of labels with your team members and their registration numbers (you need about 20). This saves you writing out the names and registration numbers every match. This can just be stuck onto the match score card.

 

DURING THE SEASON

  • Keep the team informed about any information you receive from the Committee,VP and/or age coordinators.
  • Advise team of details of upcoming matches and check availability of players for each game.  There are various tools/apps available to assist in this process, for example, teamer, sports notice board, teamster.
  • If you need to borrow players, please ask before the Thursday.
  • Organise team social events and ensure participation in club events e.g. gala days

 

ROSTER DUTIES – TO BE ROTATED ACROSS THE TEAM THROUGH THE SEASON

  • Bring oranges to the game. If you want to bring sweets check with the other parents first.
  • Write a match report and enter it onto the website or email to the manager.
  • For U12 and above, Drop the score card off at the Georges Heights Oval before 5pm on the day of your game.

 

MANAGER’S ROLE DURING THE WEEK

  • Email all parents with reminder of time of game and location. Parents should respond by Wednesday  if their child is unable to play.
  • If you are short of players, talk to the teams below you to try and borrow. For U12 and above you must get the card for any borrowed player.

 

MANAGER’S ROLE ON MATCH DAYS

Before the match – U12 and up

  • Introduce yourself to the manager from the other team and give him your photo book to check the kids. He will give you his and you check the kids on the team all have cards in the book.
  • If it’s an away game, the other team will provide the card. Stick your team list onto the card and sign for their players at start of match – if there are kids in the list that are not playing the game cross their names off the card. Hand card to the ref. If it’s a home game, we supply the card (these are provided with your Manager’s kit)and they stick their players’ names onto it.
  • Ask one of our team parents to be linesperson.

After the match – U10 and U11

  • Announce the coach’s Player of the Match award.
  • You must SMS the result to the MFC Results Collector (0487 345 002) before 5pm on match day with the result and who you played – e.g. “Mosman U10-2 played xxx. Score was 9:0 to MOSMAN!!!”. Please be aware that you must do this for every match. MWFA will fine Mosman club if results are not provided and Mosman will pass these fines ($100) onto the teams if they occur. You can also email the results to mfcresults@gmail.com.
  • Note that these match results will not be published on either the MWFA or MFC websites.  These records are only kept for the purpose of possible regrading s during the season.
  • If your team is on duty for setting up or taking down the posts, email a couple of parents and arrange for them to be at the ground early to set up. (The details on how to set up the posts will be in the pouch you are given).

After the match – U12 and up

  • Sign for the score on the card. If it’s an away game the other team keeps the card and they hand the card in. (If it is a home game then it is your responsibility to put it in the box at Georges Heights Oval before 5pm on the day of the game – see below)
  • Announce the coach’s Player of the Match award.
  • For ALL home games, you must ensure that the match card is placed in the box at Georges Heights Oval before 5pm on the day of the game. MWFA will fine Mosman FC if cards are not handed in and Mosman will pass these fines ($100) onto the relevant teams.
  • You must SMS the result to the MFC Results Collector (0487 345 002) before 5pm on match day with the result and who you played – e.g. “Mosman U12-2 played xxx. Score was 9:0 to MOSMAN!!!”. Teams failing to phone through the competition results and to hand in the match card may lose the points for the game and incur a fine of $100.

 

END OF SEASON

  • If you are giving trophies to your team (which is optional), order them a couple of weeks before the last game. Note that the Club provides medallions to all players.
  • Organise a thank you gift for the coach.
  • Arrange to drop back the kit.
