Coaching Resources

The governing bodies of state and national football have many coaching resources.  There are some useful links below:

  • FFA National Curriculum: all coaches should be familiar with this document!
  • FFA has provided a complete guide to a season’s training; ensuring players have fun in a safe and professional environment.  You will find objectives, key skills and session outlines. It covers all groups/phases
    • Discovery: U6-U9
    • Skill Acquisition: U10-U13
    • Game Training: U13-U17
    • Performance: U17 and up
  • FIFA 11+ is a complete 11+ is a complete warm-up programme to reduce injuries among male and female football players aged 14 years and older.
    • Teams that performed 11+ at least twice a week had 30 – 50% less injured players.
    • The programme should be performed, as a standard warm-up, at the start of each training session at least twice a week and takes around 20 minutes to complete.
    • The programme was developed by an international group of experts and its effectiveness has been proven in a scientific study (Norway, 2008). DOWNLOAD).  Please refer to the 11+ MANUAL for all details of the 11+ programme!
  • PEP Program consists of a warm-up, stretching, strengthening, plyometrics, and sport specific agilities to address potential deficits in the strength and coordination of the stabilising muscles around the knee joint.  Here’s a diagram of the suggested field layout.
